Best of #SSENSE2015
What Stood Out on Social
Things look a little strange, but that’s because the article is currently under construction and some images might be missing. Thanks for your patience, and check back soon.
To bring the year to a close, we’re taking a look back at the social media highlights of 2015: everything that our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook communities shared, liked, commented on, and had hilarious things to say about. We put it out; here’s what you truly brought to life.
Most Memorable
Few products get the kind of response that these Comme des Garçons Homme Plus guarachero boots saw. Lmao if you weren’t feeling them—especially if you told us why.
Squad
Our collaboration with our friend Virgil Abloh’s Off-White was one of our favorite (and most popular) projects of the year. We loved seeing the exclusive capsule collection on the gang of youth Pierre Debusschere captured on film in an abandoned Antwerp church, and we loved seeing it on you. Watch the film, read the interview with Virgil, and revisit the experience of BEFORE and AFTER.
Most Likely to be Handed the Aux Cord
Sosupersam’s party-ready summer mix got the most plays of 2015. Sam, we’re down to hang out any time. Relive the fun and listen again.
Youth Idol
Young creative Luka Sabbat gave minimalist outerwear a whole new feel in a shoot photographed by Charlotte Wales that put the preternaturally stylish Sabbat in his best light. Calvin Klein Collection was just one of the accounts feeling the yung love.
SaLOLe
Every season, the memes get better. We are all these SSENSE Sale shoppers.
Girl Power
If 2015 was the year of #feminism, our female collaborators did it justice by coming through with some of our best-received projects. The top ranking? Valentino’s womenswear taking us to nature club for Resort. Young Parisian DJ Clara 3000 was a close second, sharing a killer mix and down-to-earth interview to go along with a shoot featuring her buddies Vetements. And the third runner-up saw Elise by Olsen, Aleali May, and India Rose–the coolest girls we know under 25–take to audio, video, and more to tell us all about what authenticity means to them.
Year's Most Talked About Collection
YEEZY Season 1 has proved itself to be a fashion phenomenon unlike any other. We commemorated the collection with a beautifully dystopian photoshoot by Sean + Seng and Twitter interviews with commentators including the always-on-point Hari Nef and Jacob Keller. But more than ever, the real action got started in the comment section. Read through the Facebook posts in full for a fascinating look at how a fashion collection can become a social experiment, media phenomenon, and lightning rod for debate. Whether you loved it or hated it, YEEZY got everyone talking.
