From the runway to the club, Shayne Oliver’s Hood By Air is renowned for its underground aesthetic. Launched in 2006, the NYC-based luxury streetwear brand spawned a devoted audience with its unapologetically countercultural perspective. Far ahead of the curve, Oliver refuted the need for gendered design and incorporated a variety of body types into his idiosyncratic collections. Fans responded to Hood By Air’s striking graphics, the charged sexuality of its BDSM-inspired formal wear, and the innovation of its dauntless outerwear. After putting the brand on hiatus in 2017 to work on other projects, Oliver relaunched Hood By Air in 2020 with the same finger-on-the-pulse attitude that brought the brand to prominence.
