D'heygere BAGS

A graduate from Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts, and alumnus of Maison Margiela and Dior, Stéphanie D’heygere launched her namesake label in 2018, quickly garnering industry acclaim for her uniquely utilitarian approach to accessories design. The Paris-based designer masterfully balances form and function, creating unisex jewelry and accessories in conversation with the necessities and trivialities of daily life. Exhibiting the same wit and inventiveness as her cited influences, artists Marcel Duchamp and Marcel Broodthaers, D’heygere explores the interplay between luxury and ordinary, reality and representation, re-imagining mundane materials and everyday objects as avant-garde adornments. Dualities and contradictions come together across a range of eccentric accessories including shirt sleeve-come-fanny packs, ballpoint pen keyrings, transparent leather belts, and the already-iconic Canister Hoop earrings. Conceived as miniature vessels to hold personal effects from fresh-cut flowers to cigarettes, D’heygere’s signature hoop earrings embody the label’s ethos of versatility, subtly adapting themselves to the wearer’s daily motions and creative impulses.
