Rashelle Campbell RUGS & MATS
Multidisciplinary creative Rashelle Campbell began rug tufting as a way to beat lockdown stagnation. With her freelance photography temporarily on hold, the Canadian Prairies-based multidisciplinary artist found herself seeking an alternative creative outlet. In September of 2020, Campbell launched her first full collection of hand-tufted rugs and wall hangings. Her lively designs—which she affectionately dubs “flubbers”—feature bold, abstract shapes and bright colors inspired by her favorite childhood movies and TV. Groovy floral shapes pay homage to Austin Powers, while cute checks and squiggly patterns offer Disney channel dynamism. Campbell cites Lizzie Maguire as a major source for color inspiration—a playful palette of lemon yellow, vivid fuchsia, and creamsicle orange dominates her designs. From fun graphic floor mats to festive tabletop accents, Rashelle Campbell’s shaggy creations are the ideal companion for days spent at home.
