Lanvin

The oldest fashion house still in operation, Lanvin was founded in 1889 by 22-year-old Parisian milliner Jeanne Lanvin. Her conception of style as an all-encompassing aesthetic universe established her label as an early lifestyle brand and champion of everyday elegance. Since being appointed creative director in 2019, Bruno Sialelli (with stints at Balenciaga, Acne Studios, Paco Rabanne, and Loewe under his belt) has united the iconic French house’s heritage with a design sensibility reflective of the twenty-first century. Transcending conventional notions of men’s and women’s wear, Sialelli’s pieces embrace gender fluidity whilst paying homage to the label’s 130-year-old legacy. The eclectic collection, which draws its inspiration from the travels of Jeanne Lanvin, is defined by its soft tailoring, heavy layering, bold patterns, and vibrant colors. Emanating French ease, graphic hoodies and t-shirts make nods to leisurewear, just as pleated trousers and button-up shirts draw influence from the 50's and 70's. Logo-emblazoned bags speak to an of-the-moment contemporaneity while leather derbies, textile sneakers, and suede sandals exude subtle, albeit unexpected, style. With his playful, charming, and powerful designs, Sialelli promises to tread exciting new ground as he continues to usher Lanvin into the future.
