BYBORRE CLOTHINGS

Founded in 2010 by Borre Akkersdijk, Amsterdam-based BYBORRE is a textile studio that breaks away from the confines of traditional fashion to expand the definition of knitwear. Inspired by the mattress-making machinery that Akkersdijk encountered while working under prolific Dutch designer Maarten Baas, BYBORRE repurposes avant-garde fabrics to be used outside the realm of interior design. From heavy-knit, moisture-wicking shorts to animal-shaped wool baskets and unconventionally engineered shirts, BYBORRE’s self-developed knitting techniques merge the digital, the kinesthetic, and the tactile. With independent collections and successful collaborations with movement leaders like Nike and NorthFace, BYBORRE is trailblazing innovation and experimentation in utilitarian fabrics.
