Davi Paris SHORTS
Designer Davide Morello’s courageous leap into the world of Davi Paris—a move echoing Pablo Picasso’s musings, “learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist”—was one of disruption and creative exploration. His lifelong devotion to studying the intricacies of tailoring began as a student at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan, and quickly lead to top-tier positions at Giorgio Armani, under Gucci’s Frida Gianni and Alessandro Michele, and, finally, with a historic appointment as the first ever creative director of Boglioli in 2016. Moving to Paris on a whim in 2018, leaving behind Italy and a lustrous career, Morello laid out his romantic vision for Davi Paris. Breaking every sartorial rule he could, he gave birth to a soft and elegant aesthetic that unsettles notions of contemporary masculinity. Loose-fitting, lightweight statement shirts, shorts, and trousers—all Italian-made—are covered in mid-19th century brush-painted florals that summon laidback summer drives down the Amalfi coast. Solid-colored polos, t-shirts, tank tops and sneakers display Morello’s wealth of sartorial know-how and complement the designer’s signature printed silhouettes. Davi Paris’s non-conformist designs are an emotive reminder to question the rules.
