Yuki Hashimoto SWEATERS

Yuki Hashimoto defines his work as “futuristic classic.” The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp graduate established his brand in 2018, after stints at Raf Simons, Maison Margiela, and Kris Van Assche. He renews the look of items by repositioning pockets and fastenings, and reflects his subversive take on an opaque future by infusing tailored jackets and trench coats with angular cuts and dark colors. Hashimoto’s preferred silhouette wraps the body in straight lines, drawing out beauty amid darkness, flush with enough poignancy and force to shake up contemporary sensibility. Opposing elements are made into one: the past and the near future; chaos and purity. With his placement of details and his clean silhouettes, Yuki Hashimoto invites people to overwrite existing memories of what it is to be enveloped in garments.
