Doublet TIES

In 2012, designer Masayuki Ino teamed up with contemporary artist and pattern maker Takashi Murakami to establish streetwear imprint Doublet. Conceived as a line of "daily wear with a feel of disorder," the cult Japanese label injects menswear basics with a unique combination of novelty and subversion. A mishmash of disparate subcultural references, from '80s punk to all-American varsity teams, unite in the brand’s selection of deconstructed and reconstructed menswear separates. Oversized graphic T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and intarsia sweaters express Ino’s biting sense of humor through a series of bold pop culture-inspired imagery, brash slogans, and tongue-in-cheek logo flips, while sukajan-inspired embroidered bomber jackets, selvedge denim jeans, and denim jackets merge elements of Eastern and Western aesthetics.
