Every dress comes with its connotations. A summer dress for August, the strange month that seems to drag on. A sweater dress, worn out for dinner on a chilly night, sumptuous cashmere paired with the glint of a tasteful hoop earring. The little black dress, an elixir to reach for when all other options fail, simple, forever flattering. But when’s the last time you got dressed up?

Dresses feel like the archetypal garment. The way they hang is as much about ennui as it is about elegance. In June, the New York Times asked, “When we re-engage with a world pockmarked by pain, and see one another—from more than just the shoulders up—what will we want to wear?” The answer is: a dress—as suitable for relaxing at home as it is for stepping out of the house. A dress is faithful to every occasion, and we are faithful to the dress: introducing an assortment of styles from our FW20 SSENSE Exclusive Capsule Collection. Illustrated by Melek Zertal, these unique-to-SSENSE designs are captured in frames, the illustrator’s knowable touch giving narrative to familiar moods. Think zoning-out between calls, the randomness of Tuesday afternoon before dinner, or finding yourself spying on your neighbors; their daily habits somehow alien and comforting. From Molly Goddard, to Peter Do, to Charlotte Knowles, every day is a good day to get dressed.
