Channeling the honesty of animals and the creativity of children, The Animals Observatory spins artistry into clever kidswear. After years of admiring Laia Aguilar’s creative direction at Bobo Choses, Jan Andreu approached the designer in 2015 to collaborate on a kidswear project, and The Animals Observatory was born. Aguilar, a mother herself, weaves the wonder of childhood into her creative work, observing the world with an alert and curious eye. This playful curiosity translates into bold colorblocked jumpsuits, frilly skirts, striped shorts, and a mélange of vibrant knitwear ensembles. Underlying Aguilar’s authentic point-of-view is her awareness of a child’s need for comfort and expression. Cotton is Aguilar’s primary material and is woven throughout the collection in tulle skirt linings, striped cardigans, and plush socks. Artful and imaginative, The Animals Observatory pushes the boundaries of children’s dress with its comprehensive collection of conceptually boundless kidswear.
