Ludovic de Saint Sernin
Ludovic de Saint Sernin is redefining the menswear landscape with his erotically-charged designs. Before launching his eponymous LVMH-nominated label in 2016, the Belgian-born designer held stints at Dior, Saint Laurent, and Balmain. Inspired by the likes of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, de Saint Sernin explores modern-day masculinity through his work, challenging preconceived notions about male sexuality and desire. Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s pieces are equally provocative as they are poetic. Striking a balance between seduction and grace, the Paris-based label features gauzy knitwear, organza shirts, barely-there trousers, and innuendo-driven accessories while paying homage to the fierce minimalism of the 1990s. Sweat-stained detailing and suggestive cut-out constructions further add to the label’s daringly unique allure. From ballet to erotica, each collection continues to explore previously uncharted territory—expanding and (re)defining the vocabulary for male dressing in the twenty-first century. The label opens the door to the underrepresented world of men’s sensual-wear, only made possible with de Saint Sernin’s sensitive eye.
