Colmar by White Mountaineering

The second iteration of Colmar’s Advanced Garment Exploration (A.G.E.) brings the Italian luxury outerwear brand into the hands of White Mountaineering, the Tokyo-based masters of outdoor-urban crossover. Yosuke Aizawa, White Mountaineering’s founder and creative director, makes a point of fusing functionality and fashion without privileging either; his approach yields an unorthodox sensibility for fabric and cut that allows White Mountaineering to comfortably bridge the gap between the needs of nature and city. The resulting output is grouped into monochromatic basics bearing collection-specific logo hits, and hardshell jackets and trousers featuring colorblocking typical of ski wear. Judicious use of greyscale splinter camouflage further emphasizes the street-meets-slope approach favored throughout the collection. Colmar’s foundational designs and artful mix of technical materials are as eye-catching and reliable as ever in this refreshing interpretation.
