Happy99

Archival ‘90s fashion meets futuristic video game aesthetics in Happy99’s colorful, anachronistic clothes. Founded by artists Nathalie Nguyen and Dominic Lopez in 2018, Happy99 has garnered attention for its virtual designs that live as 3D creations on digital avatars. Taking a stance against fast fashion and overproduction, Happy99 proposes a unique retail experience whereby consumers have the option to purchase the physical garments or their computerized concepts. Happy99’s IRL ready-to-wear collection features logo-printed cotton hoodies and snug knit beanies. Technical cargo pants come adorned with funky swirl patterns while stretchy cycling tops boast graphics reminiscent of a Y2K desktop background. Guided by an experimental yet nostalgic spirit, Happy99’s off-kilter designs propose a new direction for fashion in the twenty-first century.
