Viv Lee
Glasgow School of Art graduate Viv Lee explores materiality and the body’s form through handcrafted ceramics. The Scotland-based artist works with terracotta and stoneware to intuitively craft sculptural vessels and vases. Each object is hand-built from pinched and coiled clay—an inherently slow technique embraced by Lee as a meditative practice. Nodding towards wabi-sabi philosophy, Lee celebrates the subtle nuances and inconsistencies inherent to her process that make each piece unique. Lee’s background in floristry influences both the form and function of her vases; unexpected openings introduce playful options for flower arrangement, while earthy palettes, tactile textures, and organic curvatures embody the artist’s interest in the natural world. Conceptually driven and mindfully created, Viv Lee’s biomorphic vessels bring the earth into the home.
