Judy Turner PANTS
Opulent New York-based men’s knitwear label Judy Turner meticulously constructs dreamily-envisaged versions of wardrobe staples that are intended to evoke a sense of juxtaposition through its amalgam of adept hand-knit techniques and a purposeful retro design aesthetic. Founder and creative director Conley Averett —after studying Strategic Design Management at Parsons School of Design—launched the luxury house late 2018. Cutting his teeth at Vladimir Teriokhin’s crochet and hand-knit studio in the Garment Center, he managed development and accounts for Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, and The Row before continuing as an independent product developer for emerging New York womenswear brands. Drawing inspiration from glamourous femme fatale actress Lana Turner for the brand’s name, Averett created the drag queen pseudonym Judy Turner. Aesthetically melding the Golden Age of Hollywood with unfazed 1970’s hippie exotica, sleek silk and wool statement pieces are handcrafted using the most sought-after luxury textiles and haute knit and crotchet techniques. Exquisite crewneck sweaters and hoodies in lavender, green tea and crimson red hues possess a minimalist elegance and sophisticated ease that empowers its wearer. Ultra-comfortable silk-based vests and impeccably fit shorts transcend fleeting trends, undoubtedly becoming heavy-rotation garments in any cultivated menswear wardrobe.
