Beginning as an art collective in 2006, Karin Krapfenbauer and Markus Hausleitner make up the design duo that heads the fashion label today. Conceptual patternmaking merges with impeccable tailoring producing basics that are transformed into avant-garde looks fitted with unexpected details like single-button closure, an overlong fit, or a boxy silhouette. Reducing fashion to the fundamental basics, the absolute essentials - House of the Very Islands represents a more intellectual take on fashion. One where shape is reduced to articulate, architectural lines which make up the silhouette of a slim-fit blazer or seen expressed through a very modernist, checker-patterned shirt. With a focus on sustainability, textures are handwoven featuring colors inspired by the natural environment.
