Legendary Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto’s Y’s line made its first appearance in 1977. A cult favorite in Tokyo that has reemerged in the West, the line’s womenswear spotlights elemental basics of contemporary avant-garde fashion. Androgynous adaptations of classic tops, trousers, dresses, and jumpsuits with trompe-l’oeil constructions emphasize volume as opposed to being oversized, intentionally tailored with a distinctively goth and grunge inflection to each timeless piece.
