폴로 셔츠
The polo shirt has served as a women’s sportswear fixture for the last century, enduring as a simple, clean, easy-wearing collared shirt option with cross-context versatility. In recent years, classic petit piqué variants have been supplemented with more formal and feminine materials like linen and silk faille, or reimagined for colder seasons in durable virgin wool. Nylon mesh deconstructions, meanwhile, bring the polo into explicitly streetwear territory, shedding varsity significations altogether. Oversized and long sleeved variants take on rugby ruffian and expeditionary significations, providing a dose of authenticating historicity and time-tested charm. Modified details like half-zip closures, occasionally secured by a statement-providing hoop pull-tab, provide tactile interest and guide optics. Logo appliqués at bust provide charmingly explicit branding and personality, a long-held privilege of the clothing article. The polo has always paired easily with a blazer and chinos for a leisurely clubhouse look but, true to our era of mix-and-match symbiosis, has more recently found new contingencies of use in more dressed-up formal ensembles.
