Sapir Bachar
Evoking a potent strain of contemporary mysticism, New York City-based jeweler Sapir Bachar first found inspiration in the motion of draped fabrics while working as a textile designer for Proenza Schouler and Calvin Klein. Inspired by her personal jewelry collection, Bachar founded the eponymous brand in 2019 with a focus on precious metals seen through the lens of Art Nouveau. Carefully crafted pieces made with traditional goldsmithing techniques recall modern relics and inspire similar reverence. From sterling silver and gold embellished with polished quartz to the brand’s signature handcrafted fastenings, Bachar's abstract forms resemble strokes of ornamental calligraphy or the serpentine lines of a mid-19th-century turret. An exciting minimalism permeates the collection, with shapes and silhouettes referencing memory, movement, and folklore.
