Attitude is paramount for Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, the Portuguese-born and London-based team behind their namesake womenswear line. After stints at Central Saint Martins and working under Vivienne Westwood, the pair launched Marques’Almeida in 2011 with a collection of reconfigured frayed denim that has since become a signature. Their skill at investing sophisticated constructions with the ease and spirit of a 90s alternative sensibility won them 2015’s LVMH Prize for Young Designers, and their collections continue to maintain an effortless balance of luxury and grit. With an eye for alternative cuts and fabric pairings, the duo bring a quality of elegant rawness to asymmetric skirts and dresses, cropped jeans, off-kilter button-downs, frayed denim separates, and textured knits.
