Making an auspicious debut at Fashion East SS21, Maximilian Davis has quickly become a London designer to watch. The London College of Fashion alumnus cut his teeth working under Wales Bonner, a designer whose menswear is similarly culled from a large pool of knowingly contrasting references. With influences ranging from nineteenth-century West Indies fashion to early 2000s MTV, Maximillian’s celebratory designs are united by a devotion to precise tailoring. Blazers and vests are subject to provocative reinventions by way of plunging necklines and revealing cut-outs, while jersey staples provide an entry point for experimental graphics. Transplanting the spirit of Trinidadian Canboulay into contemporary cityscapes, Maximillian has crafted a menswear vision that is alluring in its uniqueness.
