BARRAGÁN TOPS NEW TRANSLATION 2
Underground darling BARRAGÁN upends classic silhouettes with a wry deconstructive bent. The NYC-based experimental label initially began as a small-scale subversive T-shirt brand in 2010, but has since evolved into a visionary ready-to-wear line that complicates conventional binary codes of dress. Mexico-born CFDA-nominated designer Victor Barragán draws on the youth cultures of both Mexico City and NYC alike for a label hyper reflective of the contemporary avant-garde. Signature oversized, quirky proportions define boxy blazers and knee-length shorts while logo-printed T-shirts feature unexpected cut-outs and two-tone color combinations. Straight-leg jeans with exaggerated pleating and leather panelling are rendered in both classic and 90s-era denim acid washes. By amplifying the ordinary and carefully disrupting expectations, BARRAGÁN defines culture for a new era.
