Established in 2011 to develop curated menswear, Rochambeau draws inspiration from the contemporary art world and the energy of New York City. Under the visionary guidance of creative director Laurence Chandler, collections are created in-studio in collaboration with globally renowned artists (including Mark Mothersbaugh, Yung Jake, and Aaron Curry), engaging in miscellaneous creative processes to explore unconventional ways of bringing the label's designs to the world’s most esteemed luxury boutiques. Evoking a spirit of nonchalance, airy proportions and clean lines elevate the label’s offering, which finds its niche within the crosshairs of fashion and contemporary art. Playful sketchbook scribbles and creative doodles find a blank canvas in Rochambeau's bountiful streetwear staples, transforming relaxed French terry hoodies and t-shirts into subversive street-art pieces. Lightweight anoraks, technical shorts and straight-leg trousers are tailored and embellished with intricacies that adhere with the label's anti-fashion stance. Cultivating a refreshing vision of luxury, Rochambeau's jackets, button-downs and open collar poplin shirts are updated with refreshing patterns and unexpected minutiae such as hidden pockets and panelling, showcasing the brand's detail-centered artisanship. In 2016 it was named a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and winner of the US Woolmark Prize, accolades that continue to advance Rochambeau on a fast-growing trajectory.
